SMOKE SCREENS

The enemy of our souls is very deceptive. In fact, if he can't get you to sin outright, he will try to get you to do something that is "good" but simply not God's will. For example, if the Lord wants you to live in one state or country, but you live in another and think that it does not matter to God where you live then you are deceived.

Sad to say that most Christians today do not even realize this truth, and because they are content to be nominal Christians they are not only out of the center of God's will in this, but in a dozen other things as well. But the deception that I want to point out is something else. It is diversionary smoke screens. I will mention only a few. One is that the enemy has many Christians working to get prayer back into the public schools. This issue, like many others, is a smoke screen from the enemy. Christians should not have their children in the public schools of the Satan-controlled world system in the first place. Home schooling is God's ideal. So-called Christian schools is a pitiful second-best. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then it probably would be of no avail to try to explain it here.

Another smoke screen of the devil is the Christian movement to try to clean up television programming. Many are trying to get back some of what is considered more traditional, family-oriented entertainment, or even watching mostly "Christian" programs. But God would have His people get rid of the television altogether. This subject was dealt with in greater detail in the article titled Should Christians Watch TV?

Another smoke screen is to try to salvage this country based on the false premise that this is a Christian nation and that it was founded by Christians. The enemy is trying to get Christians to get involved with politics and holding political office. (Please see article titled Democracy---A Scriptural Perspective.)

There are even movements, Dominion Theology and Reconstruction, for example, that think they can either cause Christ to return by Christians controlling all aspects of society, or cause God to change His mind about prophesied events recorded in Scripture. But our mission as Christians is not to try to make the world a better place in which to live. We are commanded to come out of the Babylonian world system. Our task is to evangelize the unsaved and make disciples of the converts so that they can evangelize the unsaved and make disciples until Jesus comes back.

But Satan has gotten many Christians involved in the soup-line and bread business. As one dear saint (who is now in heaven) put it, if someone had given the prodigal son a piece of bread and a bowl of soup he never would have come home.
